Hairspray Pictures

Hairspray – piled bouffant high with laughter, romance, and deliriously tuneful songs, ran April 9-11 and 16-18 to sold-out audiences in the HSPVA Black Box theatre. It was 1962 in Baltimore, and the fantastic set took the audience back to a time when all any teen wanted, especially Tracy Turnblad, was to dance on the Corny Collins Show. Tracy’s dream came true, as she was transformed from social outcast to sudden star, won the affections of heartthrob Link Larkin, and integrated a TV network, all without denting her fabulous ‘do! The cast sang and danced their hearts out to that pounding 60’s beat with some great messages about acceptance, diversity, and the magic of big hair.
