The annual Thespian Festival at the University of Nebraska in June showcases high school performances on four stages, a wealth of learning opportunities for students and educators in workshops and master classes, a student leadership program, auditions for college admission and Thespian scholarships, the Thespian Playworks student playwriting program, and much more.

College Auditions

Each year the HSPVA Theatre Department sponsors a trip for rising seniors to attend the Festival and participate in college auditions.  HSPVA seniors routinely receive mutliple callbacks and acceptances as a result of these auditions. The Theatre Guild supports this trip by contributing to travel expenses for faculty and students.

Forty to fifty colleges and universities from all over the United States participate in the Festival’s audition program. Auditions, interviews, and callbacks happen throughout the week of the Festival. Pre-registration is required to audition, and college representatives also meet informally with students in the Festival exhibit area.
